Stay in the Game: Supporting Your Body Through Fall Sports Season

September 9, 2026 by Dr. Elise Rigney

Fall sports are officially back!

From football and soccer to volleyball, cross-country, pickleball, running, and weekend hikes, September brings plenty of opportunities to get moving.

But as activity increases, so does the importance of taking care of your body between practices, workouts, games, and adventures.

Whether you’re a competitive athlete, a weekend warrior, or a parent trying to keep up with an active family, here are a few ways to support your body this season.

🏃 Warm Up Before You Go All Out

Going straight from sitting at a desk or in the car to full-speed activity can be a big transition.

Give your body a few minutes to warm up with dynamic movement before increasing your intensity.

💧 Hydration Still Matters

The temperatures may be cooling down, but your hydration needs don’t disappear with summer.

Keep water nearby throughout the day, especially before and after practices, workouts, and games.

😴 Make Recovery Part of Your Training

Training isn’t just what happens during the workout.

Sleep, nutrition, hydration, mobility, and appropriate rest all play an important role in helping your body recover between activities.

👀 Pay Attention to Patterns

Occasional soreness after a challenging workout can happen. But if you notice the same discomfort, tightness, or limitation showing up repeatedly, pay attention.

Changes in how you move or recurring discomfort may be worth having evaluated rather than simply continuing to push through.

💙 Take Care of Your Body Before It Slows You Down

At Impact Chiropractic, we love helping active individuals and families stay connected to the things they love doing.

Chiropractic care can be one part of a proactive wellness routine focused on movement, function, and helping your body adapt to the demands of an active lifestyle.

Because the goal isn’t just making it through another season.

It’s continuing to do the things you love for years to come.

Ready to make your health part of your game plan? Connect with your local Impact Chiropractic team to learn more about our approach to chiropractic and wellness care.

5 Simple Ways to Reset Before Fall

August 30, 2026 by Dr. Elise Rigney

As August comes to an end, life starts to speed up.

Schedules fill back up, sports begin, homework returns, and suddenly the slower pace of summer feels like a distant memory.

Instead of trying to do everything at once, consider focusing on a few simple habits that can help your family feel grounded as you head into a new season.

🍎 Prioritize Sleep

Consistent sleep is one of the best ways to support mood, learning, immune function, and overall health—for kids and adults alike.

🚶 Get Outside

Take advantage of the last warm evenings with a family walk, bike ride, or trip to your favorite park.

💧 Don’t Forget to Hydrate

It’s easy to drink less water as routines change. Keeping a water bottle nearby is a simple habit that can make a big difference.

📅 Simplify Your Schedule

Not every afternoon has to be packed. Leaving room to rest and reconnect is just as important as staying busy.

💙 Make Time for Connection

Whether it’s eating dinner together, reading a bedtime story, or taking a few minutes to ask about each other’s day, small moments of connection often have the biggest impact.

As we head into fall, remember that healthy families aren’t built by doing everything perfectly.

They’re built through small, consistent habits that support one another—one day at a time.

We hope your family has a wonderful start to the new season, and we’re looking forward to everything September has in store!

Why Stretching Isn’t Always Enough

August 19, 2026 by Dr. Elise Rigney

We’ve all been there.

You stretch your neck.

Roll your shoulders.

Maybe even book a massage.

It feels better…for a little while.

Then a day or two later, the tension is right back where it started.

While tight muscles certainly play a role, they’re not always the root cause.

Our muscles often respond to what’s happening underneath them—including how we’re moving, our posture throughout the day, and how our nervous system is responding to stress.

That’s why many people find temporary relief but struggle to experience lasting change.

At Impact Chiropractic, we take a deeper look at how your spine, joints, and nervous system are functioning to better understand what’s contributing to recurring tension and discomfort.

For some patients, SoftWave Therapy can also be a helpful tool to support healing, improve circulation, and encourage recovery in stubborn areas of pain.

The goal isn’t simply to chase symptoms—it’s to better understand why they keep returning.

If neck tension has become part of your normal, it may be worth looking a little deeper.

What to Expect at Your First SoftWave Therapy Appointment

July 29, 2026 by Dr. Elise Rigney

Trying something new can feel intimidating—especially when it comes to your health. One of the most common questions we hear is, “What actually happens during my first SoftWave appointment?”

At Impact Chiropractic, our goal is to make the experience simple, informative, and personalized from the moment you walk through our doors.

Your first visit begins with a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Hannah. She’ll take time to learn about your concerns, your health history, and what you’re hoping to accomplish. Whether you’re dealing with chronic knee pain, plantar fasciitis, arthritis, shoulder discomfort, or another condition, understanding your goals is the first step in creating the right treatment plan.

Next, you’ll receive a personalized evaluation to better understand what’s contributing to your symptoms. If clinically necessary, digital X-rays may also be taken to help provide a more complete picture of your condition.

One of the best parts? Most patients receive their first SoftWave treatment during that same visit.

SoftWave Therapy is a non-invasive regenerative treatment designed to stimulate the body’s natural healing response. During treatment, a handheld device is used to deliver acoustic waves to the affected area. Patients often describe the sensation as a series of quick pulses or taps. Depending on the condition being treated, some areas may feel more sensitive than others, but treatments are typically well tolerated and require little to no downtime.

Before you leave, Dr. Hannah will review her findings, answer any questions, and provide personalized recommendations based on your condition and goals. Every patient is different, so your care plan will always be tailored to your individual needs.

If you’ve been looking for a natural, non-invasive approach to pain relief and recovery, your first appointment is a great opportunity to learn whether SoftWave Therapy is the right fit for you.

We’re proud to offer SoftWave Therapy at our Fort Collins, Loveland, and Golden locations, and we’d love to help you take the next step toward feeling your best.
